Volunteer Opportunities
Coaches and volunteers are needed for all teams. Most teams will require a manager, first aid person (safety), equipment manager, someone to install bases before each game, coach and, from the Mosquito level on up teams also require a scorekeeper, pitch counter and if possible (though rarely), someone who can umpire if the scheduled umpire cannot make it. All of these positions are made up from volunteer parents.
Please keep in mind that we need volunteers when you register your children. If we do not have volunteers to help out the kids don’t play.
Knowledge of baseball is not a pre-requisite to volunteering. For those brave and dedicated souls who are interested in obtaining their coach certification please visit http://nccp.baseball.ca/. The club will help interested individuals gain the required credentials.

Rally Cap
Baseball Canada launched its Rally Cap Program in 2006 in an attempt to improve players’ skills and keep children between four and seven coming back to the ballpark.
Rally Cap runs Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm
A modified version of baseball, a Rally Cap game features three teams of six players (+/-) competing for an hour. Two teams play each other at a time, while the third practices skills in the outfield. After 20 minutes, the teams rotate, and at the end of the night each team has played two 20-minute mini-games and had one practice. Coaches are supplied with skills and drills manuals.

Rookies
The Rookie league is full baseball using “Pitching Machines”. The Pitching Machine takes the place of the pitcher, providing consistent strikes, plenty of fast paced action as more balls are put into play.
· Games are 6 innings or approx. 90 minutes long and are played on Monday and Wednesday nights
· All players bat each inning
· Each batter gets 5 balls pitched
Equipment Needed:
· Cleats or runners with good grip soles
· A glove that fits the player properly
· Good fitting batting helmet with chin strap
Both Rally Cap and Rookie programs focus on introducing and learning the game of baseball in a non-competitive environment.
Mosquito
Tuesday, Thursday and some Sundays
Players begin to learn the art of pitching. If four balls are thrown the coach will ‘soft pitch’ to the batter to encourage hitting and putting the ball into play. The pitch count is enforced. Players are encouraged to learn all positions and really get a feel for the game. Players may also wish to try out for AA baseball.
Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Junior
Full on baseball with opportunities to play at A, AA community club level or the AAA level with the Winnipeg South Chiefs.
Peewee games are Monday, Wednesday and some Sundays, Bantam and Midgets play Tuesday, Thursday and weekends.
Umpires
Experinced players may want to consider umpiring. It’s fun and the pay is great!
